August Boxycharm with September Spoilers!

Sorry this is such a late post. If most of you have been following in the subscription world, you already know what’s in the August box and you may also already know what some of the spoilers are even though I am fashionably late, I am posting anyways! Forgive me!

Lets get started!

Boxycharm is a monthly subscription that offers 4-5 full size beauty products for $21/month. Each box ranges from makeup to skin care, beauty tools to color cosmetics and has a value of over $100 and up.

Some brands that they plan on collaborating with for the rest of this coming year would be Ofra, MAC, Becca, and Tarte, just to name a few. So if you are interested in joining the Boxycharm family, you can sign up by following this link.

So what’s in the August box?

So each month boxycharm has a theme, just like all other subscription boxes. Augusts’ theme was “Beach Please.” I thought that was so cute and also appropriate since we are still technically in summer!

The first thing in the box is from Royal and Langnickel. This is the Moda Pro, 3-Piece Brush Set. This set features a pointed blush brush, chisel blender brush and a crease brush. These brushes will help you achieve endless looks and can be used with both wet and dry products. I really love this set. It packaging and detail is beautiful. It has like a rubberized weighted handle for each brush. The bristles are very soft and silky. I especially like the blush brush because for me personally, it works great as a multipurpose brush. It can be used for blush and powder. So excited to see thus a part of the box. The product retails for $26.00 and can be found @ www.beautyusa.royalbrush.com

The next item in the box is by Adesse. This is their Gel Effect Nail Polish. Give your nails the “plump” look of a gel manicure without ever stepping door into a nail salon. This product retails for $18. No need for a UV/LED lamp. www.adesseny.com

The next thing I see is by PÜR The Complexion Authority. This is the Pro Eyelashes in the style “Bombshell.” These lashes are handcrafted with the finest luxury sill to provide ultra lightweight, natural looking, full lashes. They are cruelty free, durable, and reusable for up to 30 wears. They are also safe for contact wearers. This product retails for $14. www.purcosmetics.com

Aloette Face and Cheek paint in the color “blooming berry.” This product is enriched with jojoba esthers, vitamin E, and other essential oils. I am not particularly a fan of this product. I would not consider using this as a multi use product. I think that since it carries a fragrance and more so a definite taste, it’s not something that I would be comfortable applying to my face. My skin would have a field day! This product retails for $35.00 www.aloette.com

The final product in my box is by Tart Cosmetics. The is the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Palette-Volume II. This is a crease free eyeshadow pallete with the best selling powder formula in eight, cool toned shades. I love this pallete. These shadows are creamy and buttery and apply to lid so well. It is not overpowering at all. It can ne subtle or built up for an extreme smoky look. This product retails for $36.00 www.tartecosmetics.com

Link will be at the end of this post.

Ha! Yes, that was a shameless plug!

So since I have these subscriptions, I figure I might as well keep you guys in the loop as well.

First up, IPSY!

wp-image-1872571377

If you are not sure of what Ipsy is, it is a monthly subscription that offers 5 deluxe beauty products from popular makeup brands for $10/month, ranging from makeup, skincare, nail care or hair products. Each bag varies. It will all depend on your profile preference. If you’re interested in signing up for Ipsy, I will also leave a link at the end of this post. Now that you have that information, lets see what was in my bag for this month.

First up, Hey Honey Facial Cleanser.

This is a facial scrub with propolis and minerals. It cleans and exfoliates and is recommended for all skin types. This is a sample size but the full size product retails for $24. You can find this online @ http://www.heyhoney.com or http://www.amazon.com

Next up, Marc Anthony-Strictly Curls-Curl Envy-Perfect Curls Cream.

Now that was a mouth full! This is a full size product. Though sizes vary. The retail price of this would be between $5.99 and $8.00. This cream is supposed to control and define frizzy hair. It will also add moisture for intense shine, soft and frizz free curls.

The third product in my bag is from SlMiss Glam Beauty.

This is their T35 Precise blending brush. This brush is perfect for placing color and blowing out your crease. This is super durable and cruelty free. Also, who doesn’t like a pop of bling to brighten up their glam session. This is also a full size product. This is a part of a set that retails for $325.00 on http://www.slglambeauty.com

The fourth product in my bag is from The Balm.

This is an eyeshadow from one of their pallets’ called The Balm Voyage. This is in the shade, Willkommen. This is a creamy, light brown, satin color. It is very creamy, applies smoothly to the lid and carries a good amount of pigment. I really like this shadow. This would be a great all over the lid color. It also compliments any skin tone. The palette retails for $39.50 on http://www.thebalm.com

The fifth and final product in my August bag is from Makeup Forever.

This is their Excessive Lash Arresting Volume Mascara. This product is supposed to add volume to your lash. “Create long-lasting panoramic volume that fans out for a truly dramatic, eye-opening effect.” This is not full size but a travel size version. I personally prefer these because it is travel friendly and you don’t end up wasting product. The full size version of this retails for $25.00 on http://www.makeupforever.com And that’s it folks! My bag is empty. That was everything in my bag for the month of August. I hope you found this informational and gives you a better idea of what this subscription service provides. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquid Lipstick Review.

Hello all!

Yes, I again took a hiatus but have returned. I just needed some time to collect. So instead of explaining in a post all in itself, I figure what better way to return than to jump right back in. Just an update, there will be some changes and updates coming to the blog in the near future, so keep posted.

On to the BEAUTY part of this post…..

Bite Beauty recently released their newest product in their line and that would be their liquid lipsticks.

Influenster and Bite Beauty decided to come together and collaboration and made this product an actual VoxBox this past month. I was one of the lucky individuals to receive the box.

Each box included 3 liquid lipsticks, 1 prime and define lip pencil and some information on Bite and Influenster.

I was so excited about receiving it. I don’t own a lot from Bite Beauty but the one sample lipstick that I own prior to this box has been so good thus far.

The colors that I received in the box are, Demi-Glaze, described as a Chocolate Mauve, Flambe, described as a Vivid Poppy, and last but definitely not least, Eclair, described as a Soft Rose. The line and define pencil is just like an exfoliate for you lips. This product is also very moisturizing.

These lipsticks are full size and retail for $24 each. You can find them at your local Sephora or online at www.sephora.com

This formula one these are very pigmented and very moisturizing. They are a cream, so they do have a sheen, so no drying down needed.

I tried all 3 products and enjoyed them all. I would say that my favourite out of the 3 would be Demi-Glaze. I think it is a great nude color for WOC. I like that these are very complimentary and can fit all skin tones. Now I haven’t tried the whole line but so far, I am enjoying every thing about them.

It wears so well on the lips. They are so moisturizing and light weight. This is not a product that you need to slather on. A little goes a long way. Now with that said, since they are a cream product, it does get a bit sticky but it’s not overwhelming like some other products out on the market.

I did find that with it being a bit sticky that you have to be careful for hair or food since they may become a small problem with them sticking to your lips. Also, because it doesn’t dry down, if you’re not careful, you will have some transfer to your teeth. I think that this happens because the formula itself is so thick. I also found that as the day went on, with no re-application, the lipstick will begin to pool at the corners of your mouth. Something that is not flattering. I think that blotting works in this case. Especially with it being so pigmented, you are not removing all the product but mainly the stickiness of the product which leaves you with a more blotted stained look, also very pretty! Flambe was the only one that was a bit sheer, so it needed another coat for full opacity.

It’s interesting! It comes out thick but does not apply thick on your lips.

Two more things to think about before picking this up. They do carry a sweet scent and a taste to them that last the whole time you are wearing them. The lipsticks have more of a sweet scent whereas the lip pencil has a more minty scent. So if you are a person that is bothered by fragrance or a taste that comes with your product, you might not like these.

Overall, I really enjoyed this product. I would like to thank INFLUENSTER and Bite Beauty for their collaboration.

All products was received complimentary of influenster for testing purposes. @Bitebeauty @Influenster #theliquifiedlipstick #contest

I received these products for free from imfluenster for review. I had a pleasure reviewing them.

A Princess Was Born…

As you all know we welcomed our newest addition back in November. She is now 8 months old.

But First….. The Prince!

Ever since having my first child, I had a problem with breastfeeding. Compared to other mothers, my experience was not a joyful one but one filled with pain and tears and very long nights of bleeding agony. I remember being so engorged that I could hardly move. I remember my nipples being so stripped that they bled. I remember praying to God that it would be over just as fast as it began. I remember being miserable and just put right ANGRY! This was supposed to be a joyous occasion and it turned out to be anything but that. I understand why some women quit after a while but…… I was very determined,  so I trucked through it. In the end, I believe it was all worth it.

My milk took a long time to come in with my first baby. Not only was it hard on me but it was also hard on my little one. I remember saying to my husband and our family that this was painful than giving birth!” It took me 6 long months to get any relief. I swore I would never do it again…… And then we had our baby girl.

web_Family4309-2

I didn’t have as hard of a time the second time around with breastfeeding but still had some problems. This time it was a matter of not producing enough milk. In ran out of milk the first week of my daughter being born, which again…… made things very difficult. Not only was I engorged again, I also had to experience the clogged milk ducts and a fever which, along with a few other post-natal complications, sent me right back into the hospital. No fun at all!

Free products of relief…

I was so happy to see these products in the mail. For a person with the experience I have had with breastfeeding, it was a huge welcome. It came with all the essentials needed for breastfeeding mothers.

These products are 100%natural and safe for mommy and baby. It included 3 different flavor drink mixes that had a base of fenugreek in it, which aids in milk production and also gives mommy an  added boost of energy. What mom would not welcome that! The kit also included the shaker cup, a nipple balm which consisted of mainly coconut milk, which was great since some people are allergic to lanolin. I would be one of those people. It also included alcohol test strips for your breast milk for when mommy decides to have the occasional glass of wine.

I am glad that these products are more ready-made and available now than they were before, and that there is an actual place that you can go that will provide more information for those of us that may be a little lost and may be needing more products to aid in the new changes that is now your life.

Check out the website when you get a chance:

It was exactly what I meant to do. See, I knew that if I titled this post something else, say…. Dear White America, Privileged or Racism, then most of you would most likely bypass it and move on to something else. ….. less pressing!

But Hey! At least I gave you a sweet treat to eat while you read!

I was dumb founded and without words and pretty much pissed off to wake up to yet…. another shooting of a fellow black man, and this time one that was accompanied by his significant other and child. I thought the police weren’t allowed to pull their weapon unless completely necessary. Where did the threat come about when you pulled someone over for a broken headlight? Someone please explain this to me?

Minnesota is known to be a conceal and carry state. Everyone should know that, yet with that information out, there seems to always be a reason as to why our fellow men are being shot. Not subdued, not tased, but shot dead!

13620001_1350749891634011_4962460440496021940_n

Sorry, does this leave a bad taste in your mouth? It should! It’s time to wake up!

There are so many tactics that are taught to officers that can be used to protect themselves before drawing their weapon, yet none of them are almost never used when dealing with a person of color! When it comes to apprehending white folks, they use bean bags, tasers or just plain patience but when it comes to a black man, especially when you don’t pose any threat, they automatically approach with weapons drawn. Explain this to me. Help me understand please!

How many more need to die for there to be a change?

There are certain individuals out here in the world that is trying so hard to get Jesse Williams fired! Tell me, what did he say that upset you so much? What did he say that was not the truth? This only proves Jesse Williams correct! In a matter of 2 days we just added 2 more bodies to the ever growing list! In case you missed it, here is what Jesse Williams had to say:

What are we suppose to tell our children?

I know! You tell them, no matter what you do, they will still try to kill you! Put your hands up? They still shoot you! Inform them before hand of your carry and conceal? They still shoot you! Play peacefully with a toy gun in a park? They send a firing squad after you! Let a white man go waving a gun around? They are hit with a bean bag! Need I say more?

You Mad or Nah?

Now, I want to see someone fix their lips to explain away all of this! Yep, I said it! Tell us how wrong we are and how delusional we all are! Tell us again that #AllLivesMatter, like we don’t know that! When will there be justice? How many more will we loose before we see an actual change? They say we have nothing to fear but clearly, that statement is false! It is easier said than done. We will not believe you nor will the movement stop until justice is served! Put some action behind that speech! Show us that we are valued and that we do matter! Ask us how we’re feeling, especially in the wake of what is happening around us! Should we not be fearful? I beg to differ. This is what one Christian black man had to say:

#BlackLivesMatter

I know some of you may not like me anymore for what I published here, you may even unfollow me and that is ok, but it needed to be said! Change can only happen when we start acknowledging the problem and clearly THERE IS A PROBLEM!

To the family of those that have lost their lives to these senseless and unjustifiable acts of police brutality and stupidity, I am so very sorry! There are just no words. I cannot imagine the pain you are all going through.

We thought we had overcome this but clearly we have not. This is a huge step backwards and this only makes you question whether or not if what our ancestors fought so hard for made a difference at all!

God save us from our Evil and Carnal ways! Shed some light onto this dark world!

Fear….. the Root of All EVIL!

How much of that statement do you truly believe? I grew up in church hearing “the love of MONEY is a root of all kinds of Evil!” and though that may carry some truth, the older I became…

Source: Fear….. the Root of All EVIL!

Fear….. the Root of All EVIL!

How much of that statement do you truly believe?

aI grew up in church hearing “the love of MONEY is a root of all kinds of Evil!” and though that may carry some truth, the older I became, the wiser I became and the more I started to understand and believe that FEAR….. is also another root of this evil. It is what drives us to do insane things!

Our world is in turmoil!

Lives are being lost over foolishness. Yes, I said it…FOOLISHNESS! I don’t believe that this is how life was intended to be. Fear has taken over most of us and is running rampant through the streets. And what do we do with it? Some of us pray, others just keep their heads down and a good majority of us become ignorant to it. We talk about it as if we can talk it down, but if you really understood what we were dealing with, you would suit up and really ready yourselves for war!

FEAR_1280x1024Since becoming a parent, it has opened up my eyes so much to all the changes that are taking place. It makes you wonder…. What kind of world are we really leaving our kids to? How will they rebound? Can it even be recovered? Is this really all we can offer them? Why can’t we do better?

We have to stop being selfish! This world is not ours. It was never ours, yet we treat it as if it is something that we can easily replace. We spend our days talking about and KILLING…. those that we are suppose to love! Who ever gave us such power to choose whether someone lives or dies. No one has that right!

I can sit here all night long and talk about politics and how we need to change basically ALL LAWS in order to make this a better place. Will it happen? Maybe. Is it gonna happen tomorrow? Nah!

shout

I studied Pre-Med for two years. Biology is one of my favorite subjects. I love to cut. I had a knack for it. I  have very steady hands and am very precise. I was always told that I should become a surgeon. Though I loved it, it just was’t something that I wanted to do.The thing about it though, is that no matter how many times and how many DIFFERENT types of animals you cut open on the table, the anatomy was almost always the same. Side by side, everything was the same! All of that to say, we spend so much of our energy talking about prejudice and privilege and how all of it is determined by the color of your skin. We get so entertained in it that we miss the point that we bleed the same blood.

We need to wake up! It saddens me to see yet another devastation in yet another country because of peoples fear and hate. It makes it very hard to stay positive and to carry on with your regular every day life when all you wake up to is DEATH! I encourage us all, to see the beauty in everything, especially in the small things. Find peace and reconcile with those that may have hurt you or done you wrong. Pray for those that are in need, especially our leaders and for the state of this world.

Though we may enter this world in our pure carnal state, we do not leave it the same way! Michael Jackson was telling us all along….#ManInTheMirror #MakeThatChange!

#ParisStrong #LiberiaStrong #OrlandoStrong….

And to all the others that were affected by hate crimes in any way…. you are not alone!

Stay Blessed!
